If you are new to the world of CSA's, you probably have a lot of questions.
If you are new to our Hazon CSA of SNJ, you probably also have a number of questions.
If you are a returning member of our CSA, you may still have questions.
If you do not find the answers to your questions here, please feel free to contact us, and we will try to help you!
Will I get a lot of kale and other greens?
At certain times in the season, greens are abundant, but thanks to a large number of member farms, CSA members always receive a delectable variety of products in their shares. THe larger your share size, the more variety you will receive.
What if I can't use my whole share?
You are welcome to split your share with a friend if you think you may be overwhelmed, but thanks to a wide variety of share sizes, you should be able to find the right fit. If there are items you do not favor, or if you are unable to pick up your share, we provide a donation box for your extras that is delivered weekly to local food pantries.
Where do my veggies come from?
Lancaster Farm Fresh Cooperative (LFFC) is a non profit organic farmers cooperative of 75 farmers in Lancaster County Pennsylvania focused on creating healthy high quality foods from our highly maintained and enriched soils on small scale family farms. LFFC provides fresh, certified organic fruits, vegetables, and other farm fresh products.
The produce sold through LFFC is certified organic unless otherwise noted. They do support farmers that are looking to make their farms sustainable. They also support local farms that use Integrated Pest Management (I.P.M.) techniques.
Do I need to be Jewish to participate?
NO. Hazon CSA of SNJ is open to any member of the South Jersey community who finds it convenient to pick up at our Cherry Hill location.
Frequently Asked Questions
If I split my share, do we both need to volunteer?
No. Each share is responsible for one shift, but if you would like to volunteer more, we are always happy to have extra help!
What if I miss a pick up, or I am away on vacation?
If you know in advance that you are not going to be able to pick up your share, you can arrange for a friend to pick it up, or email us permission to donate it to our local food pantry.
Can I purchase just a fruit or egg share and not the veggies?
At this time Hazon requires its members to purchase 1 vegetable share of any size in order to purchase any of the "add-on" shares. This is because we must have a viable minimum number of vegetable shares in order to qualify as a drop off site for LFFC. If you do not want the veggies, we suggest that you split a share with a friend, or consider donating your share to the food pantry.
